About me / Disclosure
I’ve been an aquarist for almost a decade now and I’ll never forget how hard it was back then to find any good info if you just wanted to start the hobby. I had to actually go and buy some books, on paper, in order to get the information that I needed to start my first tank. Even then, it took forever to make sense of what exactly I needed to do and when I needed to do it.
After many failures I figured out what the basics were, and since then I have had some very nice aquariums to enjoy. I’m not an advanced, expert aquarist who builds aquariums into walls and keeps the rarest and most difficult aquatic animals in the world. I’m just a guy who really likes to have a nice tropical or marine tank in his house and cares enough to keep my fish healthy. Keeping an aquarium has made me very happy over the years and this site is basically an expression of the desire to share that pleasure with more people.
It’s easier now than ever to keep an aquarium well, and for people who live in cities or spend their time indoors it is such a great way to bring a slice of nature into the home. For my part, I can easily sit and watch my fish for an hour, just appreciating their little routines.
Aquariums have given my life a little more purpose, put my stress under control, and have asked very little in turn. My hope is that after you have been on my site they can do for you what they have done for me. If my work achieves that one little goal, then it will be worth every minute I put into it. So welcome, and I hope you enjoy this average aquarist’s contribution.
